The $12 million Horn Residence Hall is two-story with a partial
basement, has a gross area of 25,000 square feet, and has a total of
sixty beds. The design includes efficient mecahnical systems and use of
sustainable materials, and is designed to meet LEED Gold standards. In
addition, the building is designed to meet the ambitious energy usage
intensity (EUI) of 25 kbtu.sq.foot/year. The structural system is a
combination of wood frame and structural steel, with a lateral force
system of light-framed shear walls.
