Greene County Office Building
Catskill, New York
The offices for the Greene County government are housed in a four- story 100,000
square foot building located on a sloping site overlooking a tributary
to the Hudson River. The site is underlain by poor soils. The structure
was supported on over 8,000 linear feet of steel H-pile driven to
bedrock. Excavation for the lower floor levels required installation of
30 foot high temporary sheet piling to allow Main Street to remain open
during construction. The architectural features innclude a brick and
limestone facade to match the historic character of the existing
buildings along Main Steet.
